We're inviting saxophone players of all ages and abilities to come experience a day at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music! Participants will engage in workshops, masterclasses, rehearsals, meet with like-minded musicians and perform some incredible music with our Saxophone Mega Ensemble!

This event is co-presented with the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, The University of Melbourne.

Rehearsals, Workshops and Masterclasses

Saxophone Mega Ensemble
10:30AM — 11:30AM, The Ian Potter Southbank Centre
All participants come together to perform world-premiere works written specially for the Saxophone Mega Day! Sheet music will be provided prior to the event.

Workshops and Masterclasses
11:45AM — 12:45PM and 1:45PM — 2:45PM, The Ian Potter Southbank Centre
During the day, participants will be able to participate in workshops and masterclasses with the Saxophone Mega Day Artists, including the Australian Saxophone Quartet (Joshua Hyde, Joseph Lallo, Mary Osborne, Yo-yo Su), Nessyah Gallagher, Mira Stephens, Justin Kenealy and Ian Godfrey OAM.

For those wishing to participate in a masterclass, you will be able to express your interest through the ticket booking form, and you will be notified of the outcome on Monday July 24. All other attendees will be welcome to attend and observe the masterclasses.

Open Concert Stage
12:45PM — 1:45PM, The Ian Potter Southbank Centre
Performances will be held around the venue during lunchtime and throughout the Saxophone Mega Day. This is open to all participants of the Saxophone Mega Day and expressions of interest can be made via the registration form. A great opportunity to perform something you’d like to share with your community!

Saxophone Showcase Concert
5:00PM — 6:00PM, Hanson Dyer Hall
A showcase concert featuring the Saxophone Mega Day Participants, staff and students of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and guest artists.

Please note, participants performing in the evening concert will need to book a separate concert ticket.

Observer/Parent/Guardian Passes

Observer passes are available to those who wish to attend the day without participating in the rehearsals and concert performance.

Parent/Guardian passes are available for those who wish to attend the day alongside a participant aged 17 years and younger.
